A few months ago I made this zipper collar following Outsapop's tutorial on flickr. It took me about 10 hours and a lot of pin pricks to make it but it was worth the effort as I love it and every time I wear it literally everyone asks me about it. A tailors dummy (or at the very least a patient model) is essential for this one as I discovered when I first tried to make this without one - I just ended up stabbing myself in the neck a lot and getting nowhere.
The photos don't really show the detail very well but you can get the idea!
Thanks Outsapop!

well done

As long as you are not selling it who cares right? Also depends on how close it is to the original, fashion after all is all copies of something right? The first one looks beautiful, do show us a closeup another time.

OMGosh! You made it! I have that link saved in my bookmarks for almost a year, with the intention of making one myself, but am not too confident in my sewing skills (and need a mannequin), yours turned out beautifully!!!

wow, what a diy project! persistence + style!
you must check out this quote by one of my favourite film makers on one of my favourite blogs.
It sums up how I feel about the copying/appropriating issue: http://uniform-studio.com/journal/?p=806

I ask myself this same question! Most of the things I make are inspired by designer garments and accessories... but I agree with Brook&lyn, If it's for personal use only then I think it's OK. I also think it's important to always reference who I you have copied/been inspired by.

P.S. I thought about making one of the zipper necklaces too, But I don't own a mannequin...yet
Outi is pretty incredible!
